The post holiday weigh-in May 6, 2008
So… the holiday went well… The eating and drinking was semi-controlled but the exercise was nearly non-existent. Consequently after 4 weeks off the ‘healthy lifestyle’ and into ‘holiday mode’ I’ve put on 1kg. Not too bad considering I had a list as long as my arm of things I wanted to eat in New Zealand, this included:
- a chippie and vegemite sandwich
- New Zealand wine
- vegemite on toast
- Indian curry
- Hummus
- A peanut slab
- salt and vinegar chips
- fish and chips
- a box of jaffas at the movies
- a drunken cheeseburger from McDs
One of the things I really struggled with when eating out is that feeling that a salad is a ‘rip off’ and that it won’t leave me satisfied. Consequently I never want to order a salad when I am out for a meal. I feel like a meal out is a treat and that I should order something yummy, the problem is the yummy option is not often the healthy option! Hmmm…Something to work on.
So… I am back in Bangkok for 1.5 weeks and I have to make an effort to get back to the healthy lifestyle and get back into exercise. After that I am off to China for a week (work) and will need to keep up the exercise (I hope the hotel has a gym). THEN… after that I am heading to New Zealand for a 3 month contract. Oh boy, I am really looking forward to having that 3 months of routine!
The plan moving forward:
- Thailand/China (may) – focus on healthy eating and exercise, try to loose the weight I gained on holiday and another 1kg or 2.
- New Zealand (june, july, aug) - I am going to work really really really hard on building an exercise habit and try to shed at least another 5kg. I want to finish my time in New Zealand looking lean and feeling fit and healthy.
